Major Earthquake Risk Predicted for May 17-21, 2011

On May 15th, the Earth entered into a fast solar wind stream as reported by Spaceweather.com. What this practically can mean is that in the following days, more specifically between May 17th and May 21st, we could see similar (or worse) scenarios than what happened in Japan recently. This space weather condition may be the prelude to new and serious tornadoes and extreme weather events.

The geomagnetic activity reached solar speed winds K=4 level (as reported by swpc.noaa.com), winds as high as 569 km/sec coinciding with a significant increase in proton flux, according to Imsal.com.

According to Piers Corbyn (astrophysicist at WeatherAction.com): “This increased activity is a prelude to our long range forecasted Extra Top Red warming for <weather events 17-20 of May including tornadoes in the USA> and <increased MAJOR earthquake risk from 17th to the 20th of May>. Especially the Pacific Rim, including West coast USA is vulnerable.” In a later message he referred to dates of 19-23 of May, which indicates that the storm has been evolving a little different than initially anticipated, yet 2 days difference in the existence of the universe is as good as nothing.

In this period increases in major (M6.0 and above) earthquakes as well as increased aftershocks in recently active areas such as East Honshu, Japan, and also probably increases in relatively low level activity quieter regions.

Piers also said that the massive Japan earthquake we recently witnessed, followed by the devastating tsunami, were triggered by massive events on the Sun…and he added that there are more to come in the next two years. The earthquake was preceded by a significant hit of the Earth by an X class solar flare and a Coronal Mass Ejection, as reported by NASA.

Weatheraction.com also warned after the New Zealand earthquake of February 21, that solar-lunar scene is set for more earthquakes for the next two years.

An interesting note he added to conclude: ”Just to be clear in case the usual fools and charlatans make claims the weather and earthquake events that have come and are coming are absolutely nothing to do with CO2 or so called man-made climate change in any way whatsoever and such talk diverts attention from where it is needed and holds back the advancement of science”.

Let’s see and wait…and hope he was wrong!
