A MASSIVE sink hole is swallowing up the beach at Inskip, north of Tin Can Bay.
Campers have told The Courier-Mail the hole, which appeared about 11am, could be up to 100 feet deep.
Camper Shane Hillhouse said four-wheel-drives had been travelling along the popular stretch of sand, near Inskip Peninsula, shortly before the hole appeared.
``This has the potential to take the tip of Inskip Point with it – this is huge and on a scale I’ve never seen before,’’ he said.
``People are bringing chairs and sitting back to watch it in awe.
``This is absolutely amazing – it’s almost at the tree line now.’’

Ealier in the month of June, residents at Olpad, India, ground water began gushing up from everywhere bursting through plumbing, flooding homes...
_____________
The situation continues to deteriorate in Olpad town where water has been overflowing from wells and borewells for the last few days. Now the water is flowing out of houses situated on the ground floor after seeping through cracks in the floor. This has been happening in many localities of the town but the district administration seems clueless about the reason.
Water burst through the cracks in the floor of two houses located in Mali falia and Asmanabad areas of Olpad on Wednesday. Soon there were complaints from the residents of other houses about a similar problem in their area.
Urmila Patel, a resident of Mali Falia, said that when she went into her kitchen in the afternoon, she was surprised to find water all over the floor.
“When I filled the crack through which the water was coming in, it began to come out from another place. I thought this was happening only in my house but other houses are affected as well,” said Urmila Patel.
In some houses, water has been coming out with such force that it soon spreads to the entire house. Some houses have 15 cm of water on their ground floor with the drainage system proving ineffective in draining it out. The residents of the town have informed the district administration about the problem.
The authorities sent a team of geologists and asked them to conduct an on-the-spot survey. Sources said that after preliminary checks, geologists reported to district administration that continuous leakage of gas had led to the situation. They also claimed that, at some spots, oil was also coming out with groundwater.
