Psalm 83: T-Plus 65 Years and Counting

 

15 November 2012: Two weeks from now, 30 November 2012, will mark the 65th year since David Ben Gurion spoke these words to the crowds gathered below a balcony of the Sochnut building in Jerusalem on that warm Sunday afternoon: "Ashreynu sheh zachinu la yom ha zeh." [Blessed are we who have been privileged to witness this day.] For the past 65 years has the prophecy of Psalm 83 been in the midst of its fulfillment and blessed are we, the Bride of Christ, to be witness to these events foretold in that 3000-year old prayer sung by the prophet Asaph in the era of King David and King Solomon.

Yesterday, as I was prepping to post this blog item, came word that verses 9 and 10 of Psalm 83 had literally come to pass on a street in Gaza when the IDF in a joint operation with Shin Bet struck down the HAMAS military commander Ahmed al-Jaabari in the opening phase of Operation Amud Anan [Operation Cloud Pillar]. Psalm 83:9-10 reads (KJV):

"Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth."

Obviously this HAMAS military commander was not the first enemy commander killed in this prophetic war, nor will he be the last, as this war will also consume many additional enemy commanders as well as the political leadership of all the enemy nations of the "inner ring" surrounding the State of Israel. It should be noted that the political leadership of the Islamic enemy nations are virtually synonymous with their religious leadership in many instances and none are likely to survive this war.
Also of note on this 65th year of Psalm 83 fulfillment is that the Palestinian Authority intends to have the majority of member states of the United Nations grant them non-member state status in the world body; an existent state status which they had rejected in 1947 preferring instead to wage war for the purpose of as prophetically declared by Asaph in verses 3 and 4 (again KJV):

"They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance."

As this new phase of the 65-year old prophetic war is prosecuted let there be no mistake in our understanding that Asaph's prophetic song is as inerrant as the rest of the Word of God; that nothing is changed one jot or iota from what has been prophetically declared, and that privileged are we who bear witness to its final fulfillment. Amen and Maranatha!
