Another Benefit of Being Too Big to Fail

If nothing else, these WikiLeaks cables give you pause. Yesterday afternoon, we learned the government’s been up to no good in the “front that shall not be named” across the US’s southern border with Mexico.

After the president claimed on April 16, 2009, that “more than 90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States,” we find out now how true that statement was.

But rather than coming “from gun shops that line our border,” as the president had characterized the transactions, it turned out the Mexican government bought $177 million in US-made weapons in 2009 – more than was the total purchases made by Iraq or Afghanistan.

Mexican cops and soldiers then sold or gave the weapons to the drug gangs they are supposed to be used against. “US law enforcement has fair reason to worry a number of weapons simply ‘disappear,’” reads one of cables, dated November 2009.

“The violence has been exported to Mexico,” was a common refrain we heard on last month’s exploratory mission to Colombia.

Some US weapons follow a more direct route from the US government to the drug gangs.

In February, it emerged that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives was funneling weapons through US gun dealers to the drug gangs in Mexico – a sting operation. Roughly 2,500 weapons made their way into Mexico as part of “Project Gunrunner.”

The sting backfired.

Two of the guns were used in a shootout on the Arizona border last December, killing a US Border Patrol agent. Serial numbers reveal the guns used were from the Project Gunrunner crop.

Word comes too, that back when Wachovia was still an independent bank, it was laundering money for the Mexican drug gangs – $378 billion worth moved through Mexican currency exchanges.

The transactions were made public last year when Wells Fargo – which ended up hitched to Wachovia in one of Hank Paulson’s shotgun marriages during the Panic of 2008 – was hauled into federal court.

“Wachovia’s blatant disregard for our banking laws,” said federal prosecutor Jeffrey Sloman, “gave international cocaine cartels a virtual carte blanche to finance their operations.”

So the Feds threw the book at Wells and its directors went to jail like regular drug users… right? Not so much. The case was dismissed after Wachovia paid $160 million in fines and penalties. Must be nice to belong to the “too big to fail” club. Membership has its privileges.

We suspect there’s much more to this story worth keeping an eye on. By the grace of WikiLeaks and other leveling technologies, the unraveling of the security apparatus of the empire…and the financial chicanery therein…will likely be a recurring theme of these pages in the near and distant future.

Just a guess…

Huhne is Alive

Guido was beginning to worry about Chris Huhne. Since the formation of the coalition, that he pushed for over any supply and confidence deal with the Tories, he has been almost invisible. Other than a weekend of bad press when he left his wife, Huhne has managed to stay below the radar and is almost an invisible Minister. Funny how he manages to be out of the country a lot when things get tricky.

There has been plenty of talk that he might be “on maneuvers but it seems the tactic is to do a little as possible above the parapet. Huhne has surfaced in the last twenty-four hours to call Baroness Warsi a nazi for her AV campaigning. This will no doubt please his mistress Carina Trimingham who is working for the Yes to AV campaign. The struggling LibDem membership, with their hearts wearily behind the “miserable little compromise”, will lap it up.

Entertainment Giant Judge Judy Joins Growing List Of ‘Gibberish’ Talk Reporters

A most curious phenomenon of ‘gibberish’ speaking reporters sweeping North America has gained its biggest victim to date after reports that the entertainment giant known as Judge Judy had production halted on her highly syndicated show and was brought to hospital yesterday after she began speaking nonsensical words during a live taping.

According to Hollywood reporting website RadarOnline.Com, “Judge Sheindlin was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Wednesday morning after she suddenly started saying things that didn’t make sense, a studio insider revealed. “She was just sitting on the stand during her show taping and she started saying things that didn’t make any sense.”

Judge Judy (aka Judith Sheindlin) is one of America’s top paid celebrities earning over $45 million-a-year and recently topped The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Power 100 List, coming in at No. 48.

This phenomenon was first discovered a few weeks ago after CBS reporter Serene Branson during a live Oscar broadcast started speaking nonsensical words to shock of her audience and all of America.

Next to be overtaken by this phenomenon was Toronto’s Global News’ Mark McAllister who, likewise, during a live broadcast started speaking nonsensical words during a live news broadcast.

Quickly following McAllister was Madison, Wisconsin’s WISC-TV news anchor Sarah Carlson who, like all before her, began speaking nonsensical words during a live news broadcast too.

To the cause underlying this phenomenon many hours have been spent among US news commentators and medical experts trying to explain what appears to be unexplainable, but to no conclusion other than their suggesting that this phenomenon may be related to as yet unnamed health issues.

These explanations, however, fail to account for the many physical discrepancies between those being affected by this phenomenon leading one to seek more logical explanations as to its sudden occurrence.

After our own research into past similar occurrences, where sudden instances of nonsensical speech began appearing in ordinary people having no previous health issues, we found an exact match of what is now occurring when a demonstration of US Military microwave technology was demonstrated on a live television news programme.

The demonstration of this technology was given by Dr. Elizabeth Rauscher and Dr. William van Bise, who directed magnetic signals into the brain of CNN reporter Chuck DeCaro where they created visual images as in a hallucination and he began speaking nonsensical words.

This program also featured Dr. Robert O. Becker, two time Nobel Prize nominee, scientist and researcher of electromagnetic radiation effects on the body and author of Body Electric, who summarized, “The government has never disproved the psychological effects of electromagnetic radiation.” Dr. Robert Becker commented “that this is a substantial step forward in the understanding how the visual system works” and would be “a powerful weapon if used on fighter pilots while trying to fly.”

To what the reason(s) would be for the US Military to begin testing such a powerful weapon against American and Canadian reporters it is not in our knowing, other than to point out the obvious fact that nothing has ever stopped them from such madness in the past.

Ah-Ha Moment

Ah-ha! I finally figured out why the clowns our leaders in Washington and the fools “experts” on Wall Street are so positive: they’ve been getting their updates on the economy from the Daily Pygmy!

“Recession a Myth, Say Absurdly Rich People”

According to a survey of the top point one percent wealthiest Americans, there is no such thing as recession. Of the 300 millionaires and billionaires surveyed, only two of them said that a recession had taken place since the housing bubble burst in 2008.

“It’s classic media sensationalism,” said oil magnate Jeremiah Wallace, who was swimming in his vault of gold coins at the time of interview. “The reality is that people still have money to fuel their private jets and buy castles in the Scottish Highlands.”

A large minority of those questioned – thirty-two percent – believe that poverty is a fabrication of acquisitive non-profit and charitable organizations run amok.

“Where are all these so-called poor people?” asked retail tycoon Constance Spencer, who conducted her interview from behind the tinted window of her Rolls-Royce Phantom. “They’re not at the golf course; they’re not at the spa; they’re not even at the Ritz-Carlton. Pish posh.”
