Tips on staying safe

The threads about the BOB being taken and items being taken from parked cars kind of made me go into my risk assessment mode.

The better title for the thread may be: Stop violating OPSEC and screwing up ways to protect yourself from day-to-day errors. Not sure if that is all encompassing though. There's probably a better title out there somewhere.

Anyway, here's the first tip:

Never leave your keys with anyone not in your trusted group.

If you drop your car off at a dealership, when you put your keys in the drop-off slot, only put in the vehicle key and the alarm fob, if that is needed. Don't give them your entire key ring.

Don't laugh. Many people do. I have friends in that field and they tell me that happens all of the time.

Why not?

Because not every person working at the dealership, or any repair place, is an honest person. Some of them may have criminal tendencies. You just gave them keys to your house, directions to your house, and a good indication of when you may not be there.

Bad move. Stop doing that.
