December 21, 2012 - Is It the End of Days or A New Beginning?

Chicken Little cried, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" He was able to form a huge following before the truth was uncovered.

Comparisons could be made to the cries of the predictors that the world is ending in 2012.

Unfortunately, the stakes are much higher in reality as opposed to a fairy tale.

Your approach to the coming doomsday prophecies could mean the difference between survival and destruction.

There are many predictors of world destruction in 2012.

Taken literally there is real cause for concern.

The Hopi Indians, the Aztecs, the Mayans, all predict that the world is in for some trying times. By their calendars and time lines, the end of days is scheduled for December 21, 2012. This is when the Sun and stars will align and the totality of the rape of our planet will be complete, if you believe the prophets.

These prophets deem that on December 21, 2012, the Age of Pisces will officially end and the Age of Aquarius will begin.

What does this mean?

It means that an Age that began approximately 3200 years ago will end and a New Age will begin. It also means that one of the triggers of this change is that the Sun will align itself with the Black Hole of the Milky Way and a planet called "Planet X" or "Nibiru" will pass closely to the Earth, causing a disruption of the Earth's magnetic fields and upsetting the Earth's balance.

This is where the world ending in 2012 predictions comes in.

All of these alignments, combined with the increased stress on the Earth by population explosion, wars, famine, oil drilling, mining, and urban sprawl will catch the Earth at a weak point. When the magnetic fields are down, there will be earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, rains, floods and tsunamis, and the magnetic poles that keep the Earth in balance will flip, causing the Earth's orbit to reverse. Kind of sounds like a movie does it not?

In truth, the Mayan Long Count Calendar will end on December 21, 2012. A new calendar will begin on December 22, 2012, and with the magnetic fields affected by the rare astronomical event, we will see increased physical geological and climactic changes, much as we have during the past 20 years. Left unchecked our abuse of the planet will worsen these events.

The world ending in 2012, or a new beginning?

It is up to us how long it takes to recover.

The End: Prophesied Since the Beginning

At the height of it's kingdom through 606-536 B.C., the Babylonian Empire encompassed Iraq, Syria, Iran (Persia), and Lebanon. The city of Babylon was the main religious and commercial center of the early world. In Revelation, the last book of the Bible, countless references are made to a place called Babylon, including a deep description on how it will be utterly destroyed.

But how can it be destroyed when ancient Babylon no longer exists? Babylon (Babel) is first mentioned in Genesis 10:10 as the location where the Tower of Babel was built in the plains of Shinar. Revelation Chapter 18 reveals Babylon would be destroyed by fire, never to be inhabited again, and many would cry and lament over her destruction. There is no historical record of such an event happening in the past. Is it possible for the empire of Babylon to rise again? Of course! Don't forget on May 14, 1948, the state of Israel was reborn in one day.

The United States is currently locked in a major showdown between Iran (Persia) and Syria. The Bush administration is determined to remove President BasharAssad's regime in Syria and has been the main vocal voice for Syria to be sanctioned by the recent U.N. Resolution for the assassination of former Lebanonese Prime Minister, Rafik Hariri on February 14, 2005. Iran, Syria's closest ally, has made its position very clear for the destruction of Israel and the United States of America. Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said openly on November 1st, 2005, before his country that, "The state of Israel is a disgraceful blot that should be wiped off the map."

Not one country, with the exception of the United States, expressed disapproval of Iran's comments; the international condemnation was silent. This is surprising considering that Iran has boldly denounced repeated international pressure to abandon its nuclear program. As a matter of fact, Russia, which supplies Iran with nuclear materials, mentioned nothing had changed between their relationships in light of Iran's confrontational threat to Israel. Determined not to have a repeat of the Holocaust, the Nation of Israel will not sit idly by and watch as its number one enemy gains nuclear power. What will happen if Israel attacks Iran in a pre-emptive strike?

Well, let's take a look at what the Bible says...in Ezekiel Chapters 38-39, the prophet foretold of a "Gog-Magog" massive attack against Israel. Many Biblical scholars believe that "Gog-Magog" is the country of Russia. In reading Ezekiel's prophecy, Gog leads an alliance with Persia (modern day Iran), Ethiopia, and Libya (all Islamic countries) into an unprecedented attack against Israel. Amazingly, Israel aggressors will all be defeated due to a miraculous intervention by God.

What does this future war have to do with the resurrection of the empire of Babylon? Everything! The fact that four countries that were once within the borders of the Babylonian Empire are now on the verge of collapse or have already collapsed is not a coincidence. I believe with the breakdown of each country they will join together to become one. There will be a geographical change in the Middle East for the following reasons:

1. Iraq is very unstable.

2. Lebanon is still in recovery mode from the assassination of their respected democratic leader.

3. Persia shall be defeated in war. (Ezekiel Chapter 38-39)

4. Damascus, Syria shall be taken away from being a city. (Isaiah 17: 1-3)

After the fall of Assad's regime in Syria and the annihilation of Iran (Persia), a serious void will be felt in the Islamic world. A coming leader shall resuscitate these broken countries and bring a dramatic change to the former region once known as Babylon. This is not by accident for history always repeats itself. The territory of Babylon is slowly but surely coming back to life.

A couple of years ago, Saddam Hussein made the news when it was discovered that he was taking steps to rebuild Babylon so he could follow in the footsteps of King Nebuchadnezzar's. According to the Bible, a literal place called Babylon will exist and will be a prominent superpower during the Last Days. There are six facts mentioned regarding the resurrection of ancient Babylon recorded in the Dakes Annotated Reference Bible:

1) Babylon as a literal city is mentioned in the fulfillment of many things which MUST BE after the rapture (Rev. 14:8, 16:19; 18: 1-24)

2) Zechariah predicted the rebuilding of Babylon (Zech. 5:5-11)

3) Babylon must again be a great commerce, religion, and political center (Rev. 18:1-24)

4) Babylon's sorceries will deceive all nations after the rapture (Rev. 18: 23, 2nd Thess. 2:10)

5) Orders for the martyrdom of saints will go out from Babylon (Rev. 18:24)

6) Babylon will be destroyed at the end of this age (Rev. 16:19; 18: 1-24; Isa. 13:19; Jer. 50:40)

Read the scriptures for yourself. Make it point to read Revelation 20:4, "I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years." What prominent religion makes it a practice/law to behead people who break the law?

The Quran dictates that God revealed His will to the angels, saying: "I shall be with you. Give courage to the believers. I shall cast terror into the hearts of the infidels. Strike off their heads, strike off the very tips of their fingers." (Sura 8, Verse 12) and "When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield strike off their heads." (Sura 47, Verse 4). In the Book of Revelation, Apostle John explains what will happen during the final days of the earth. I believe a powerful Muslim leader will restore the Babylon Empire through an Arab-coalition of the countries of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran (Persia).

The book of Genesis tells the story of the beginning of the world and the Book of Revelation explains how the world will end, and Babylon (Babel) is mentioned in both books. In fact, the city of Babylon is mentioned 234 times in the Bible, only the city of Jerusalem is mentioned more. How amazing is it that the Bible, a Book written thousands of years ago foretold these events? There's no other book like it, no matter how many counterfeits try to compare. If you're in need of a good read, I highly recommend that you check it out.
