Warning issued over possible surface flooding, slips and fast-rising water levels

Waikato Civil Defence is warning people to be aware of the dangers posed by heavy rain expected to hit the Coromandel later today, while a weather watch is also in place for the rest of the Waikato.

Emergency management officer Greg Ryan said the MetService had advised that up to 180mm was expected for the Coromandel Ranges from 4pm, with up to 100mm elsewhere on the Peninsula.

“Up to 50mm of rain could fall in an hour and this heavy rainfall has the potential to cause surface flooding, as well as slips on some of the Coromandel’s rural roads,” Mr Ryan said.

“Due to the intensity of this rainfall storm water drains could struggle to cope. The community can help minimise the impact of surface flooding by clearing debris and rubbish from drains and gutters.

“Motorists should ensure their headlights are on, so other road users can see their vehicles in the rain. Drivers should also reduce their speeds and increase their following distances to minimise their risk of a serious crash.

“The combination of the heavy rainfall, strong on-shore winds and higher than normal tides could also lead to flooding in low-lying areas.”

Mr Ryan advised water users to always check conditions prior to entering the coastal areas and adhere to all warnings.

He also reminded members of the public that the impact of the rainfall on rivers and streams would not be realised immediately and people should not endanger their lives by entering either flood waters, or swollen rivers or streams.

The Waikato Civil Defence Emergency Management Group is working closely with Environment Waikato to monitor the region’s rainfall and river levels.

Primary Dealers Flip 50% Of Another Bond Issued Two Weeks Ago Back To Fed

Yesterday we tried (and failed) to make a big deal of the fact that Primary Dealers flipped 53% of the 7 Year Bond just issued two weeks ago (apparently nobody in charge cares or understands what this means, except for Bill Gross of course), so today we will go for an encore, and courtesy of today's $6.69 billion POMO, point out that the Primary Dealers have now managed to flip 50% of the just issued 5 Year Bond CUSIP: 912828QJ2, which was issued on February 23, and which saw $20 billion allocated to Primary Dealers. Well, on the Pomo from March 2, the Fed monetized $4.9 billion, and today this was followed up with another $5.1 billion. The monetization farce is now moving to every single OTR bond, and nobody in congress dares to ask why or how much money the Primary Dealers are making as a result of this travesty. Which is why going forward we may or may not report on bond auctions that have a Primary Dealer component (so all): in essence with the Fed guaranteeing to buy back half of every Primary Dealer take down, it is no longer an auction. Luckily, there is a 35% SOMA limit on how many bonds the Fed can monetize per CUSIP. Oh wait, that was scrapped as part of QE2. It is now a true Vaseline free for all.

Russian Warning Issued Over "Controlled" Comet Headed Towards Earth !

Sparking the fears of Minister Serdyukov, he says in this report, is that based upon the new orbit calculations for Comet Elenin, it appears in “all likelihood” that this celestial object is under some type of “intelligent control” and will approach our Earth “much closer” than originally thought this coming fall season.

Most ominous in Minister Serdyukov’s report is his assertion that Comet Elenin appears to be in “direct contact” with the mysterious Jupiter-sized planet discovered beyond the orbit of Pluto that is, also, headed inbound towards our Sun.

Interesting to note about Comet Elenin is that even though the American space agency NASA has said “Because of the possibility that the comet's orbit slightly deviate from, there is no guarantee that Earth will be missed”, they have, also, in contradiction, stated that “…Comet Elenin will come nowhere near the Earth. At its closest (on 10 September 2011) it will be more than 25 million km from our planet.”

To the identity of those extraterrestrial forces controlling Comet Elenin our world had been forewarned about by the former Canadian Defense Minister, Paul Hellyer, who stated about them: “Decades ago, visitors from other planets warned us about where we were headed and offered to help. But instead we, or at least some of us, interpreted their visits as a threat, and decided to shoot first and ask questions after.”
