Obama on Energy Independence

Today, President Barack Obama spoke to the students at Georgetown University to challenge the next generation to meet the challenge of reducing our dependence on oil.  He put forth a plan to reduce our daily import of foreign oil by a third by 2020 by:

Increasing our domestic production of oil in a responsible and sound mannerIncreasing our investment and production of next generation biofuelsIncreasing our investment in alternative modes of transportation including electric vehicles

In order to support new electric transportation, we need to find cleaner sources of power generation such as wind, solar, natural gas and more nuclear power.

Security guard uses CCTV to stalk cleaner

Big Brother Watch has long warned about the dangers associated with letting untrained and unaccountable people have access to CCTV cameras. Sadly, a case has been uncovered this morning which has compounded our worst fears. James Tuff, a security guard working for the Dynamic Earth tourist attraction in Edinburgh, has been revealed to have abused his access to CCTV in order to spy on members of the public and colleagues.
