Ireland Banking Crisis Cost Grows: Another $ 34 Billion from Irish Taxpayers Required

According to the Central Bank of Ireland, the cost of bailing out the Irish banks from the cost of their reckless business  decisions has increased by another $34 billion, on top of approximately $65 billion already spent. This news coincided with Fitch announcing another downgrade on Irish government debt. The current bill Irish taxpayers are being forced to swallow for covering the cost of the follies of the bankers is now a staggering seventy billion euros, or more than $100 billion dollars.

Hank Calenti, responsible for bank credit research at Societe Generale, said it will take another twenty years for the Irish people to pay off the money borrowed by Dublin to cover the cost of the decision by the Irish government to guarantee all the financial obligations of the private banks in the country. This means that every man, woman and child currently living in the Irish Republic is responsible for more than $20,000 in loan repayments to save their banking elite from the cost of their mistakes. Instead, it is the Irish people who will cover the losses, without any vote or input on the matter. Thus, in the wake of the global financial and economic crisis of 2008, this is what passes for Western democracy.

Cumbre Viejo 500 Billion Ton Volcano in La Palma

Powered By Scroogle

I am going to write about some good news as soon as I find it. In the meantime we have what lies in the Canary Islands. It is called Cumbre Viejo and it is an active  volcano which boasts a slab of granite on the western side of the caldera which weighs 500 billion tons. It is separating from the main caldera which is one of the largest strato-volcanos in the world.

According to the Discovery Channel, it is a question of when not whether. This monster on the Island of la Palma could generate a tsunami 1800 feet high traveling at the speed of a jetliner. Structural collapse generates much high waves than a mere earthquake. Those on the west coast would have about 8 hours to prepare. The tsunami would still be about 300 feet high or much higher by the time it reached the United States  taking out cities from New York to the Caribbean.

Everyone and everything within 50 miles of the shoreline would be destroyed. That includes all the nuclear plants along the coast. We have seen in Japan just how easy it is to put them back together after a tidal wave. The casualty rate could reach 150 million people in the U.S. alone with lower figures in Britain and Europe.

But don’t worry Cumbre Viejo hasn’t erupted since 1971. At present we have people actually talking about building more nuclear facilities. We are going “clean green” according to the president. Japan has abandoned work at the Fukushima power plant due to out of control radiation.

Japan activist warns another quake looms soon for Japan. Takashi Hirose foresaw in his book last summer, “Nuclear Reactor Time Bomb.” another possible disaster for japan. Hirose expected the hamaoka plant 200 KM from Tokyo to go first however. He bases this on earthquake cycles on the Tokai region. I could be that Japan has more surprises in store. What do you figure the chances are for a happy ending here? I am not even discussing the fact that the earth’s magnetic poles are shifting leading to more instability. He says in effect the Pacific plate is moving, do we think the other 3 or going to stand still?

I count at least 15 or 16 plants within reach of such an occurrence. How many do you count?

Japan Adds $183 Billion to Stabilize Markets After Quake

March 14, 2011

The Bank of Japan poured a record 15 trillion yen ($183 billion) into the world’s third-biggest economy today as the strongest earthquake in the nation’s history triggered a plunge in stocks and surge in credit risk.

The yen fell after the central bank added funds to the financial system, reversing earlier gains against the dollar on speculation authorities would sell the currency to aid exporters. Governor Masaaki Shirakawa yesterday said he is ready to unleash “massive” liquidity to support markets.

“This is a big and also appropriate move,” said Stephen Schwartz, chief economist for Asia at Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA in Hong Kong. “It’s a short-term measure to ensure stability to prevent this shock from spilling over to the financial markets.”

Record US 223 Billion Dollar Monthly Deficit

223-billion-dollar-february-deficit
this image is a fraction of an actual 223 Billion Dollars

Two Hundred Twenty Three Billion Dollars.

$223,000,000,000.00, a deficit analogy

Just 28 days of the United States government deficit spending during February, 2011, that is – just the part of February spending that they put on the government credit card (on top of the cash money they spent during the month), is the equivalent of a line of dollar bills stretching from the earth to the moon, not just once but 346 times!

Here’s another one. If your sole function in life from the age of 1 to the age of 85 was to count dollar bills, say, 3 per second, without any breaks or sleep, it would take 28 lifetimes to count 223 Billion dollars!

Okay, one more, I can’t resist… If the dollar was only worth as much as a sheet of toilet paper, the February record budget deficit would be equivalent to about 2.2 Billion rolls of toilet paper. Good for a lot of flushes.

The big picture
You get the picture, yes?

Now, bear that in mind while looking at the big picture of what the Democrats and Republicans have been proposing and battling for just one year’s worth of budget cuts…

I believe the D’s are talking about 6 Billion and the R’s are talking about 60 Billion, or thereabouts. So let me get this straight… they are talking about ‘cuts’ the equivalent of less than one day of deficit spending (Democans) while the other ‘they’ are talking about the equivalent of only about 8 days (Republicrats)!

Do not most people see the idiocy and lunacy of their squabbling and their play acting?

Their talk of 60 Billion is a drop in the bucket compared with the staggering hemorrhaging amount of money of just one year’s deficit spending, currently 1.3 Trillion.

It’s all ‘a show’
They are merely putting on a little show for the mind-numbed worker-bees who are either too busy with their nose to the grindstone to notice, or who cannot fathom the enormity of the sums in question or know the difference between Billions and Trillions, and who keep on voting them back in office while Rome burns around them.

Neither the D’s or the R’s are in any way serious about cutting spending. They are entirely insulated from the negative results of their actions. They are feathering their nests, they are robbing the treasury, they are not required to abide by the laws that they pass, they are set for life once serving their term or they move on to make millions afterward as corporate lobbyists, they are opted out of the upcoming national health-care and have their own cushy plans, the list goes on and on…

The collapse
The Ponzi scheme of quantitative easing may likely collapse one day, and when it does, the elite will not be touched. It will be the middle class who will have been stripped of their wealth and will suffer through many years, if not decades, of payback for having voted themselves the government that they deserve.

Prepare
Prepare for a dollar crisis. I feel it is coming some day, if not slowly, it could come surprisingly fast. The looters are trying their best to raise the temperature of the frying pan just slow enough so the majority won’t know what hit them and won’t jump out until it’s too late. The problem is, in today’s global system, it’s not just the U.S. with their hands on the temperature control…
