TSA Bloat Slaps the Highway Patrol in the Face

So… apparently the Department of Homeland Security ‘TSA’, the Transportation Security Administration, feels the need to bloat and grow their ‘reason to exist’ even more than their already overwhelming presence in all US airports. Today, it was learned that the TSA is now hitting the streets, literally, looking for terrorists on US roadways.

From NewsChannel5.com in Portland, Tennessee, “You’re probably used to seeing TSA’s signature blue uniforms at the airport, but now agents are hitting the interstates to fight terrorism with Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR).”

Agents are recruiting truck drivers into the First Observer Highway Security Program to say something if they see something. “Not only truck drivers, but cars, everybody should be aware of what’s going on, on the road,” “The bottom line is this: if you see something suspicious say something about it,” said Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons.

So… apparently the State Highway Patrol and local police are inept to do their job as they’ve done all these years? They somehow are suddenly incapable of noticing if something ‘is not right’ on the roadway? If I were a police officer, I would be pretty pissed off at this latest takeover attempt and the ever expanding US government Dept. of Homeland Security, TSA…

So Gibbons says, ‘…if you see something, say something’. What he doesn’t tell us is the definition of ‘something’…

So, for example, if I happen to see a car with four folks that look like Muslim’s, am I supposed to call TSA and tell them that something doesn’t look right and they might be terrorists?

Or, if I happen to see a truck or trailer that looks like it’s overloaded, and riding a bit low to the ground than normal, should I call TSA because it might be loaded with explosives?

What if i have a grudge against a personal enemy… can I call TSA and tell them some kind of ‘horse-shit’ so that they pull them over and perform the traditional TSA groping techniques in search of weapons or bombs, so I get the last laugh?

I’ve gotta tell ya, I just cannot believe what is actually happening to our country as we give up more and more of our freedoms of movement. And for you folks that are about to say, “…well if you aren’t doing anything wrong then why should you care?”, well that’s Bull $hit. How far are we citizens going to allow our government to encroach on our liberties? I’m afraid the answer is not a good one for those of us who loathe excessive gov’t. intervention. I believe as a nation we are beyond the 50% point where there are more folks that could care less about all this than there are those that do care.
