I am their inheritance -Welcome to the Watchman Torah-05-07-11

I am their inheritance, the Lords inheritance; much could be said about that. In today’s reading of the torah we find a Holy God telling Moses to tell his people what it takes to come before him as his people. He is a Holy God, so must his people be holy. We find the people were to be set apart as holy before this God, but in the daily life of the Hebrews the tabernacle was a place to be sanctified, set aside for meeting with this God. The truth of Leviticus is the fact it is not so much about keeping the laws, ordinances, and commands as it was about what it took to approach a Holy God. In this, though, we should remember as we also read in Ezekiel, that is, the Lord was their inheritance.

Yes, the Lords inheritance was the fact that those who came before him and sought his face, he was to be their inheritance. The Priests in this section were to minister and be provided for by the offerings that came from the people to be given to the Lord. This God took care of them. They were to be holy, separated, and stood before the Lord for this people. In the whole section we find this Holiness, sanctified, and set apart people and their ministers looking to this God for all things. Indeed, the Lords inheritance was the fact that as they sought him, the Lord himself became all things, i.e. The Lords inheritance was the Lord himself.

Much could be said about this, but today through Yeshua, he is our inheritance. Bringing us to the Father through the blood of the covenant, we have an inheritance. This inheritance is the Lords inheritance, that is, the Lord himself. We are to be Kings and Priests to our God, a Holy priesthood, a Holy nation, one that is set apart for him and him for us. Let us pursue this in faith, righteousness, and truth.

Eze 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
(Eze 44:27) And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, unto the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering, saith the Lord GOD.
(Eze 44:28) And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession.
(Eze 44:29) They shall eat the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.
(Eze 44:30) And the first of all the firstfruits of all things, and every oblation of all, of every sort of your oblations, shall be the priest’s: ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house.

The Torah:

They Shall be Holy and not profane the name of their God

Lev 21:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:
Lev 21:2 But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,
Lev 21:3 And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.
Lev 21:4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
Lev 21:5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
Lev 21:6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
1Pe 2:10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
